Elliot Perlman was born in Australia in 1964. He has received numerous awards for his writing, including the Betty Trask Award and the Fellowship of Australian Writers Award for Three Dollars, described by the Daily Telegraph as 'a brilliant first novel' and praised in the Times Literary Supplement as 'a sad, angry, disconcertingly funny reflection on the way we live now'. He is the co-author of a screenplay based on Three Dollars which is currently being made into a film. He lives in Melbourne where he works as a barrister.
