Detta är en av de bästa böcker om Java jag läst, även bland de bästa databöcker jag läst. Core Java tar sig an att beskriva den lite mer avancerade biten i språket Java och vilka möjligheter det finns. Helt uppdaterad på nya SE6 gör att den är även bra som referens eller till den som vill uppdatera sig på vad som är nytt. Det är INTE en "lär dig programmera" bok även om de första kapitlen beskriver grunderna i Java. Man behöver inte kunna Java sedan tidigare men man bör ha lite koll på hur man programmerar och gärna lite vana från C++. SUN har varit med på ett hörn i skrivandet av boken och de om några vet ju hur man programmerar Java. En given bok för den som verkligen vill lära sig skriva seriösa program i Java.

Cay S. Horstmann is also coauthor of Core JavaServer Faces, Second Edition (Prentice Hall, 2007). Cay is a professor of computer science at San Jose State University, a Java Champion, and a frequent speaker at computer industry conferences. Gary Cornell has been writing and teaching programming professionals for more than twenty years and is the cofounder of Apress. He has written numerous best-selling books for programming professionals, was a cofinalist for a Jolt Award, and won the Readers Choice award from Visual Basic Magazine.
