"Students will enjoy this book. One of social psychologyas most gifted experimentalists displays his characteristically good taste by picking and recounting some of the cleverest and funniest experiments of the "candid camera" variety. Miller brings these studies together, often reinterpreting them, under the unifying rubric of "self-censorship," which is a tremendously useful and under-appreciated concept. Analyzing everyday dissociations between public and private standards reveals a great deal about what makes us embarrassed, and relatedly, what makes us human. Obviously, I found this manuscript to be really interesting and provocative."
