As manufacturing processes become more complex, additional types of information are needed. Typical processes now require measurements of film thickness, particle size, solids concentration, and contamination detection; there is generally more than one type of sensor for each type of measurement. "Industrial Process Sensors" explains the physical mechanisms on which these measurements are based and describes the interpretation of data. Based on the author's experience in the chemical process industry, this book discusses limits of sensitivity and significance, providing examples that illustrate how these devices can be used for process control to improve productivity or product uniformity.
