One Brown Cow

Kim is a lonely six-year-old. Her parents are both in the military, so she lives with her grandma, Nana, while they're away. Kim loves Nana, but sometimes, she feels sad and alone. She misses her old friends and her parents. But when she discovers a lonely cow, everything begins to change. Kim wants to know why the cow is all alone. Where is her owner? Why isn't anyone around to care for her? Nana knows the owner-Mr. Braden, an old man who lives in the nearby nursing home. Nana takes Kim to see him one day; even though she's nervous at first, Mr. Braden becomes her friend. As it turns out, he's lonely, too. He misses his wife and his cow, Old Sue. Maybe Kim and Mr. Braden can help each other! One Brown Cow is a heartwarming story for any child with parents or friends far away. Everyone gets lonely sometimes, but when we help bring cheer to others, something amazing happens! We end up feeling better, too.
