John Wyer, Eric Broadley and Roy Lunn headed the project through a company called Ford Advanced Vehicles, based in England. The series of iconic sports cars, collectively know at the GT40, was powered by Ford V8 engines. Low and muscular - the '40' referrred to its height in inches - the GT40 uniquely achieved eight years of competive racing from one chassis design. Every GT40 chassis between 1964 and 1971 is chronicled in photographs. First sports racing car to exceed 2000mph on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans. Coverage includes private teams and entrants as well as works cars. Inspired the new Ford GT production supercar, launched in 2003 to make a golden era in Ford's history.
