Ornamental Knots for Beaded Jewellery

Suzen Millodot has always loved arts and crafts, and is the author of the very successful books Chinese Knots for Beaded Jewellery and Celtic Knots for Beaded Jewellery. She is an accomplished artist, having taught batik for many years in Canada, Hong Kong and Wales. She first developed a fascination for decorative knots whilst living in Wales and later in Hong Kong.Her jewellery now incorporates knots from all over the world and from all periods of history, and she complements the knots with unusual and exotic beads she has collected on her travels.She and her husband now live in Wales very close to their daughter and grandchildren. She occasionally teaches and continues to make original jewellery and wearable art using knots and macramé.

Jan 09First there was Chinese Knots For Beaded Jewellery, then came Celtic Knots For Beaded Jewellery (both reviewed on this site). Now here is a whole new book with more knots and exciting things to make with them; time to get the corkboard out again!The author must have read my comments on wanting to tie the dragonfly knot pictured in the first book, because here it is in all its glory. There are lots of diagrams and staged photographs to follow in here, including one for the gorgeous Guinevere knot to actually pin on the board and fix your cord to. There are ideas on dyeing cords to match your outfits, and not only rat tail gets used but other cords including leather thronging, the latter to great effect. You can use these knotted pieces to showcase some wonderful beads (if you have them) or use up oddments from other projects like I do, and like the author also does in various examples. This is a great hands-on book that will take pride of place next to the other two on my keeper shelves. Also, here is a craft that does not cost a lot of money which is all to the good. Another useful and attractive primer on an unusual subject.
