The original Norsk Strikkedesign was a wonderful book, showcasing the work of Norway's talented knitwear designers, but UK knitters had a hard time tracking down the US-published title. We were delighted, then, to hear that it was to be reprinted and distributed in the UK. Now entitled Norwegian Knitting Designs, it's an exquisitely photographed collection of breathtaking designs. The 11 designers featured have blended traditional Norwegian colourwork and motifs with modern shapes and playful details to create knitted works of art. From jackets, jumpers and coats to an adorable child's sweater, these designs are aimed at the experienced knitter, but there is much here to inspire any fan of colourwork. We particularly love an ornately decorated princess-line sweater and a wide-sleeved jacket with deep cable borders, evocatively called 'The Season of Darkness and Winter Light'.-The Knitter Here are 22 unique hand knitted garments, all using classic yarn and based on traditional patterns by some of Norway's best hand knitwear designers. All of them have influenced Norwegian hand and commercial knitting during the last 15 to 20 years. Designs are photographed with the countryside that inspired them and include pattern charts and detailed instructions. The full colour charts are an amazing source of inspiration for machine knitting.-Machine Knitting Monthly Norway has always been big on knitting, so a book filled with Norwegian designs - like this one - is sure to please. This fab book was originally released as Norsk Strikkedesign, but this new version has been published especially for UK knitters. Inside, you'll find the work of 11 designers, all chosen for their incredible talent. They've combined traditional Norwegian colourwork with contemporary structure and fit, to bring you cutting edge coats and avant-garde sweaters. For the experienced knitter, these breathtaking designs use in-depth colourwork techniques. We love the garter stitch stripy jacket in a rainbow of colours with a co-ordinating crocheted red cap and bag, decorated with sparkling glass beads.-Knit Today
