War And Peace In The 20Th Century And Beyond

Together with 29 former Peace Prize laureates, a group of international scholars gathered in Oslo on 6th December 2001, for the three-day Nobel Centennial Symposium on "The Conflicts of the 20th Century and the Solutions for the 21st Century". Gathering some leading historians, anthropologists, economists and political scientists, the conference offered an opportunity to discuss why the 20th century was ridden by so much conflict and how the 21st century may become a more peaceful one. This volume contains the proceedings of the conference.
