Kyle Carpenter was born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1989. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2009, and served for more than a year as a gunner in Helmand Province, Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. In June 2014, Carpenter was awarded the Medal of Honor. He is presently the youngest living recipient of the Medal of Honor. In 2017, he graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BA in International Affairs. Don Yaeger is an eleven-time New York Times bestselling author, longtime associate editor at Sports Illustrated, and today is one of the most in-demand public speakers on the corporate circuit. He delivers an average of seventy speeches a year to an average annual audience of almost one hundred thousand. He and his wife, Jeannette, live in Tallahassee, Florida, with their two children.
