Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) was born in London to a bankrupt barrister father and a mother who, as a well-known writer, supported the family. Trollope enjoyed considerable acclaim both as a novelist and as a senior civil servant in the British Postal Service. He published more than forty novels and many short stories that are regarded by some as among the greatest of nineteenth-century fiction.

    Penguin serien Christmas Classics är en serie av sex böcker med jultema av klassiska författare. Från Dickens En Julsaga till Hoffmans Nötknäpparen är det en intressant samling, där tyvärr den här novell-samlingen av Anthony Trollop är den svagaste boken i serien.

    Trollope är ingen dålig författare. Han har ett fint språk, en del riktigt träffande, kvicka och roliga beskrivningar och han förstår sina karaktärer och förklarar tydligt vad de gör och varför de gör och tänker som de gör... Läs hela recensionen

Anthony Trollope (1815-82) was one of the most widely enjoyed and prolific novelists of the nineteenth century. His books include the great Chronicles of Barsetshire, of which Barchester Towers is the second volume. Trollope worked for the Post Office for much of his adult life, combining postal and literary business as he travelled around the British Empire. He has been credited with the creation of the distinctive British pillar box.
