Winner of both the Mariano Azuela Prize and the Jose Fuentes Mares Prize, Sergio Galindo was the author of thirteen novels and many shorter works. Carolyn Brushwood is a professional translator. John S. Brushwood (19202007) was a professor of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Kansas, Lawrence.
