I've been looking forward to reading PD Dawn's first book and I sure wasn't disappointed. It was easy getting to know the characters and follow along as they were developed so well. You won't regret this first novel by PD Dawn. It is a wonderfully written story with unexpected moving moments. PD Dawn skillfully takes you through the characters individual struggles as they wrestle with loss, disillusionment and emptiness. Although PD Dawn is a new author, this first novel of hers is a fantastic read and really draws you in. Whether in New Zealand or to the unflinchingly horrendous reality of WW1 battlefields, it's a hard book to put down.
