Malpas and Taylor are indeed stimulating. Their study provides a clear, lucid discussion of several key themes in Pynchons novels, chief amongst which are paranoia, the emancipatory power of fantasy and alternative modes of perception, and the subjunctive potentiality of spaces of resistance.
