Jessica Glasscock earned a bachelor's degree in English from New York University. Following school, she became a feminist activist, working for the American Civil Liberties Union's Women's Rights and Reproductive Freedom Projects. During her tenure at the ACLU, she discovered an interest in the history of women's fashion as it intersected with women's history and freedom of expression. To pursue these interests, she joined New York University's Department of Art and Art Professions, where she earned a Master's Degree in Visual Culture and wrote a thesis on the birth of striptease. She has published articles on Cindy Sherman, Rei Kawakubo, Vivienne Westwood, and the history of burlesque.
