Jean W. Wooten is a professor of biology emerita at the University of Southern Mississippi. Her articles have appeared in the Journal of Ecology, Rhodora, Brittonia, Canadian Journal of Botany, and Taxon. Robert K. Godfrey (1911-2000) was a professor of biology at Florida State Univeristy. He was the author, with Herman Kurz, of Trees of Northern Florida and, with Jean W. Wooten, of the two-volume Aquatic and Wetland Plants of Southeastern United States (Georgia). The herbarium at Florida State University is named in his honor.
