'The greatest value that I find in this book is the simplicity with which it presents a highly complex field. Not only is the book easy to read, but it is also highly systematic in its presentation. Each chapter takes the reader through a step-by-step process which, taken with the summaries of relevant cases, ensures that by its completion, the reader is well versed with the different agreements of the WTO. I would recommend this book to any student and practitioner of WTO law and policy.' William Nyambo Mwanza, student, School of Law, University of Edinburgh 'This is an essential book for anyone studying the law of international trade; the thorough explanation[s] of hard law and soft law provide a complete and balanced view of the law, inner workings and policy of the World Trade Organization ... The comprehensive yet easily digestible summaries within each chapter highlight the most vital information, which really help[s] to streamline revision and provide concise structure to essay writing. The questions and assignments act as an efficient mechanism for exam and dissertation preparation and practice, increasing understanding of the more complicated principles of international trade law. The result of this is that one feels much better placed to follow a career in the research or practice of the law of international trade, an increasingly pivotal area of law in the ever-more globalised environment in which we live.' Lydia Clathworthy, LLM International Commercial Law student, University of Exeter 'This comprehensive textbook brings clarity to a complex and dynamic area of law. Van den Bossche writes in a clear and logical manner with the structure of the book making navigation effortless. The questions and assignments at the end of each sub-topic engender deeper thinking and the summary section in each chapter provides a useful overview as well as an excellent aide memoire.' Christopher Pilgrim, LLM International Business Law student, University of Liverpool 'An excellent textbook, written with an admirable degree of clarity and rigour ... Professor Van den Bossche remarkably succeeds in combining an in-depth analysis of the law of the World Trade Organisation with a thought-provoking introduction to the legal, institutional, and policy challenges facing the multilateral trading system. The book is an invaluable reference for students, academics and practitioners in the field.' Dr Gracia Marin Duran, Director, LLM Programme in International Economic Law, University of Edinburgh '[The Law and Policy of the World Trade Organization] is an invaluable resource for the study of WTO law. Van den Bossche's text is well-referenced, structured, and accessible making it an ideal introduction to the cases, concepts, and complexities of the WTO.' Stephen Barber, LLM IEL 2011-2012, School of Law, University of Edinburgh 'Retaining the clarity of expression and critical analysis that were hallmarks of previous editions, this new edition of The Law and Policy of the World Trade Organization benefits from both a new structure and the additional expertise of a new co-author. Erudite, accessible and engaging, this seminal textbook is required reading for all students and practitioners in the field.' Professor John Jackson, Georgetown Law School
