SARAH PRESCOTT is a Lecturer in English at the University of Wales. She is the author of several articles on early eighteenth-century women's writing and will be publishing Women, Authorship and Literary Culture, 1690-1740, also from Palgrave Macmillan. - DAVID E. SHUTTLETON lectures in the Department of English, University of Wales, Aberystwyth. He has published widely in journals and anothologies on eighteenth-century literature and contributed to Women's Poetry of the Enlightenment: Essays on the Making of a Canon, 1730-1820 (edited by Armstrong & Blaine, Macmillan, 1998).
