In nature, it is common knowledge that, like the diamond, gold is eternal. Nearing the age of seventy-five, David Rosen, though dealing with aging, chronic illness, and other end-of-life issues, recognizes also in this time that his creative ability is strengthened by keener and more intimate self-knowledge and by deeper connections with the earth and his surroundings. The title of this collection comes from Rosen's small poem, ""Cold grey wind . . . / warming to gold,"" which reflects his process of staying connected to Earth and family, despite cold grey winds of age and change. These poems will touch readers and stimulate them on their own quests for meaning.

This is the ninth collection of haiku by David H. Rosen.

Recensioner i media

""david rosen: physician, psychologist, poet, gardener, is most of all a man who has reached maturity with wisdom and compassion for the earth and its beings. this is evident in poems such as: 'distant sawyer . . . / in the garden: / artichokes & roses.' human endeavor splinters reality and opens a chasm between itself and nature's selfless bounty of food and beauty. thus, in a few insightful words rosen illustrates the schism that separates man and nature. what more can we ask of a poet?"" --joel weishaus, co-author of the healing spirit of haiku

""i highly recommend this collection of tiny gems. they are a remarkable example of how much meaning and joy can come from a few carefully crafted words placed together. . . . david rosen's interpretation of the world in front of him is unique and often humorous. . . . readers will undoubtedly enjoy many more of his insights from warming to gold."" --shelley baker-gard, regional coordinator--oregon, haiku society of america
