    Som så ofta bestäms historien av segrarna. De som utrotade piraterna genom en systematisk jakt med domar och avrättningar, har fått ensamrätt på beskrivningen av dem. Efter att ha läst boken förstår jag att den bilden är så långt ifrån sanningen man kan komma. I själva verket var de före sin tid både vad gäller demokrati, rättvis fördelningspolitik, jämställdhet och respekt för människovärdet utifrån heder och inte förmögenhet eller samhällsställning.
