Using the Scandinavian experience of social democracy as a starting point the contributors to this collection look at the development of social democracy in other areas of Europe, in particular Southern Europe - Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy - and also Eastern Europe. In addition to decribing the main features of social democracy in each area, the contributors identify the basic similarities and differences between them.
