Recensioner i media
"Happiness Is An Art Form takes nothing for granted. It's a rare thing for a contemporary poetry collection to consider its audience so generously, to seriously question why writing matters without fear and without compromise. It remembers that poetry has work to do besides the merely aesthetic; it asserts that, in the face of austerity and hate-speech, learning how to live gracefully is a radical act."--DAVE COATES, Poetry Critic "Agnes Toeroek employs a sharp blade to dissect happiness in these poems. Humour and pain trip lightly along lines which ache with recognisable truths, and the warmth and wit which has delighted audiences shines through."--ELEANOR LIVINGSTONE, Director, StAnza International Poetry Festival
Övrig information
Agnes Torok is a Swedish spoken word poet, writing and performing in English and Swedish. She has won multiple awards, been featured at international poetry festivals and performed on four continents. Torok regularly collaborates with the BBC, runs writing workshops for young people and adults, and releases crowd funded poetry videos online. She became a spoken word poet (in her second language) after a physical disability shut down her ability to write or type and she had to learn to write by speech. This is her debut published collection. Her story is one of resilience. So is the story of this book.
