BOOK DESCRIPTION

Disillusioned with corporate London life and with no previous experience as a long-distance cyclist, Anna decides to clamber atop a beautiful pink bicycle (named Boudica) and set out on an 11,000-mile journey on her own, through each and every state of the USA.

Dodging floods, blizzards and electrical storms, she pedals side by side with mustangs of the Wild West, through towering redwood forests, past the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains and on to the volcanos of Hawaii. Along the way, she meets record-breaking grandmas, sings with Al Green at a gospel service and does her best to avoid becoming a grizzly bear's dinner.

The United States of Adventure is a down-to-earth, heartfelt and hilarious account of an adventure through a country well-known, but far less well-understood. It is a stunning tale of self-discovery told through the eyes of a woman who couldn't help but wonder if there was more to life, and more to America too

Anna McNuff is an adventurer, speaker, author and self-confessed mischief maker. In 2020 she won the Amazon Kindle Storyteller award for her South American Travel memoir - Llama Drama. Named by The Guardian as one of the top female adventurers of our time, Cond Nast Traveller included her in a list of the 50 most influential travellers in the world. She is also the UK ambassador for Girl Guiding.Anna has authored four adult books and one kids book - all of them about travel and adventure. Her latest work - 'Bedtime Adventure Stories for Grown Ups' - is a collection of bite-sized adventure tales designed to help adults de-stress and escape to far flung lands before bedtime.Anna's travels include cycling a beautiful pink bicycle through each and every state of the USA, running the length of New Zealand and exploring the peaks and passes of The Andes mountains - in which she ascended the equivalent to eleven times the height of Everest on a bicycle.But she is best known for an adventure in which she set off to run - a 2,300+ miles (90 marathons) run through Britain... in her bare feet. All the way along, she gave talks to the young women of Britain about taking on challenges of their own.Much closer to home, she has also spent a month cycling across Europe directed entirely by social media, run the length of Hadrian's wall dressed as a Roman Soldier, and the length of the Jurassic Coast, dressed as a dinosaur.
