This brief introduction to Christian worship surveys biblical and historical patterns of worship. It takes an ecumenical approach in introducing readers to a variety of worship practices across a range of Christian traditions. The place of music, symbols, sacraments and the church year are all considered. Not a How to book, it suggests, rather, how we ought to think about worship. The book does, however, include practical suggestions along the way on the basis that the best practice always arises out of a solid theological grounding; and includes a chapter on the construction of worship services. Reflection questions at the end of each chapter may be used for small group discussion, personal journaling, or as an assessment task. Suggestions for further reading are provided at the end of each chapter for readers who wish to go further.
