5 Stars!  Annabel Schiotz: Highly amusing, unusual and entertaining


the willy nilly books tell hilarious stories about a boy who gets ‘brilliant’ ideas, leading to highly amusing situations.

In The Fastest Kid in the World, Willy Nilly’s brilliant idea causes havoc on the road, astonishment in the park and amazement at the racecourse. All goes well in the end, but with a nice little twist in the tail.



The lively text is written with smatterings of colour and exclamation marks, which I thought was going to be annoying but actually found added vibrancy to the story.

Children reading it to themselves might also find it quite helpful. Dialogue is written in green, and action words in red.



The illustrations are delightful. Colourful, lots of detail, wonderful expressions on faces, and plenty of movement.



5 Stars! Tom Craven: Ideal for kids who like cars and speed



thematically the book is perfect for any kid who likes cars and speed. it would be best if you also planned to build a toy car with you kid, or a soap box derby racer of some sort, but that's far from necessary.



The art is charming, and BUSY! There are many things to look at, label, or question on every page.



Plot-wise, be aware that the child protagonist does go behind his parents' back, but it is handled in a way kids should learn from.
