Not a Place to Visit is a new collection of illustrated essays by WILD MAN cartoonist T Edward Bak. Exploring themes of social and ecological flux unique to environments in the western US through concisely rendered reflections this series examines the migration of the artist's family to and from Colorado's San Luis Valley, tourism and salmon on the Columbia River, the fraught ecosystem of southern California's Salton Sea, and fracking along the northern Colorado prairie and Front Range.

T Edward Bak is a writer and illustrator who manages to combine personal history with history in the largest sense. He is simultaneously a historian and ecologist. He cuts through the strata of different levels of existence to give a comprehensive, illuminating and often sobering view of the relationship between humans and the landscape. - Jenny Zervakis, author-artist of Strange Growths T Edward Bak knows his nature. His cartooning brings amazing species to life on the page (even extinct ones) while he shares important stories about the natural world and our role in it. Don't miss this book. - John R. Platt, award-winning environmental journalist and editor of The Revelator T Edward Bak's comics are a powerful mix of bold visual themes and calculated restraint. From color to line to page composition and more, Bak's attention to deal makes every panel and page stand out. Like the subject of his current project (the naturalist Georg Steller) Bak has a roving and feverish curiosity about everything he translates onto the page. - Rob Clough, The Comics Journal Bak is one of our great naturalist cartoonists, with a fierce moral vision and deep engagement with history. He has seen the glory of wild landscapes with his own eyes and you see it on these pages.- Kevin Huizenga
