Agriculture in India is one of the most important sectors of its economy. It is the means of livelihood of almost two thirds of the work force in the country and according to the economic data for the financial year 2006-07, agriculture accounts for 18 per cent of India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). About 43 per cent of India's geographical area is used for agricultural activity. Women workers play an important role in agriculture sector. More than 60 per cent of the workers in agriculture sector are women. These working women in agriculture are exploited by various reasons. The most important reason is that these women workers are not aware about their strength and opportunities.
