The book is a manual setting out the basic principles, methods and analytical techniques ethnosociology. Ethnosociology author understands not as a sociological application of the principles to the study of ethnic groups, but as an independent field of sociological knowledge, based on the analysis of the transformation of society and social systems from the simplest (ethnic group) to the most complex (civil society and postobschestvo). The first section describes the main sources and schools pertaining to the ethno (actually sociology, ethnography, ethnology, cultural, social and structural anthropology, and so on. The third section is devoted to the application of ethnosociological conceptual tools to the analysis of contemporary Russian society and its historical roots.
