La intención de estas reflexiones, es ayudar a comprender lo trascendente que es significa para nuestra profesión y para la sociedad en general mejorar en el máximo grado posible la capacidad de diseño en los arquitectos y la importancia decisiva que tiene realizar un buen anteproyecto con el que se tomen las mejores decisiones en relación a las circunstancias del requerimiento, con el fin de justificar todo el esfuerzo que demanda ejecutar un completo y bien documentado proyecto ejecutivo consecuente, de manera previa e independiente de la futura etapa de construcción, para garantizar la calidad de todo el proceso para realizar una buena obra de arquitectura. Pretendo demostrar, y si no al menos interesar al lector en debatir, que ese mejor desempeño del arquitecto diseñador está ligado a poder actuar con un conocimiento adquirido basado en la formación teórica y crítica de la arquitectura en general y de la Arquitectura Moderna en particular, comprendiendo las causas y efectos de las ideas fundamentales que sembraron "los mejores arquitectos en sus mejores actuaciones". Entendiendo que un buen desarrollo de la estética en la arquitectura es lo que hace la diferencia y como ello se consigue desde la práctica proyectual, recorreremos los momentos más destacados de la historia en busca de las demostraciones que nos clarifiquen y nos ayuden a capacitarnos para ser los buenos proyectistas que la sociedad necesita. Pero no empezaremos nuestro derrotero en 1900, que es cuando comienzan los cambios del diseño que necesitamos conocer y dominar para cumplir el objetivo. Lo haremos en el año 450 AC aproximadamente, pues explorar cómo se han comportado las sucesivas sociedades acerca de la estética en la arquitectura nos permitirá reconocer que en nuestra disciplina hay un proceso de progreso evolucionista, así como en la teoría darwiniana de la evolución de las especies.

Asset pricing theory aims at linking an asset’s higher return to its higher risk exposure. However, the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) of Sharpe (1964) and Lintner (1965), the most widely taught model in business and economics classes, has been largely contested in the literature by researchers finding anomalous patterns in equity returns. Based on the failure to match the CAPM with empirical data, researchers have been in an ongoing dispute whether the anomalous behavior in equity returns is still reconcilable with market equilibrium and, therefore, with a risk-based explanation, or must be seen as consequences of investors’ irrational behavior and the agency costs of professional investment management. To support a rational pricing story, Fama and French (1992, 1993, 1996) develop a three-factor model that is highly successful in c- turing the two well-known anomalies related to a stock’s market capitalization and valuation level, the size and book-to-market effects. They argue that their model must be seen in the context of Merton’s (1973) Intertemporal Capital Asset Pricing Model (ICAPM) so that their size and book-to-market factors act as state variables capturing the investor’s hedging motives. They consider relative distress risk as the economic source of the common variation in stock returns related to their factors.
