The idea for A Marines Lapsein Synapse: Part Two came about while visiting with people about the firstbook. People would ask me about it, andsay things like, Hey, did you include the part when… Id reply with an, Aw, shoot., or somethingclose to that, and scribble down some notes.Since writing the first book, people have inundated me with their stories, feeling slightly more comfortable sharing their dark side with one of their own(almost as if my book had given them permission). Ive been asked to write their stories, andits tempting. Someday I might, but fornow, Ive got enough of my own in my memory banks for a few more collections.

Part One, The End of a Career, isnt just for school teachers or administrators, its for anyone in a position of authority who has a job where there are risks involved with youth or the other gender. Its for anyone working in a location where you will need witnesses, or someone to back-up your version of the story. Part Two, The Qatar Edge, isnt just for airmen or even the military. Its for anyone who appreciates good humor under strange circumstances. If you fit one category, read both parts anyway. It wont take long, and youll be glad you did. At the worst, youll learn something about the risks in education, and the lighter side of todays military.

People Would Buy Tickets is my first attempt at creatingfiction. Do not be misled into thinkingI am getting tremendously creative here.Realistic fiction becomes fiction only because I have changed the namesof people and the titles of the places where it was necessary. I am still telling stories that reallyhappened, only embellishing where I lack details or think it would be moreinteresting. The part of this book thatis really fictional and dreamt up is in the descriptions and actions of themain characters, but I am still using stories from, and characteristics of,people I have known personally. Thatsaid, Heck and Count arewholly fictional characters, and are not meant to symbolize or representanybody.
When I began thisproject, the title of the book was, CountIs Clear. After carefulconsideration, that title works only if you are familiar with correctionaljargon. I had intended some word playwith the term count, and a main character, Count, but it does not work if youare not already familiar with the term as it applies to corrections, and thecharacter. The title that I decided on, People Would Buy Tickets, comes from aco-worker, who does not want his name mentioned here.
Many of you know myprevious work, and realize that I was simply writing about things that reallyhappened. There is not much writingtalent in regurgitating, just a skill for translating real life to paper. The primary characters are all fictional, asis much of their background, but the inter-woven humorous short stories are mostlyfactual, if only slightly embellished events related to me by co-workers and myown experiences while working in the corrections field.
