This illuminating book critically examines the landscape of research surrounding how LGBTQ+ employees can thrive at work and in their careers. Contributing authors provide an overview of the varied ways in which LGBTQ+ identities are researched within organizational, occupational and cultural contexts.Chapters explore areas of research and practice that shape how LGBTQ+ people experience their work, including human rights, labour market dynamics, work–life dynamics and the power of personal narratives. Scholars present insights from various disciplines including the humanities, economics, sociology, management and psychology. Global case studies spanning Africa, Asia and South America analyse topics such as heteronormativity, intersectionality, colonial legacies and homocapitalism. The book looks to the future of research on LGBTQ+ working lives, assessing the challenges facing inclusion in the workplace, as well as highlighting movements promoting equality across the globe. This timely book is a valuable resource for scholars and students of LGBTQ+ related topics, particularly work and employment, alongside critical management studies, organizational management and business and management. Practitioners in Human Resources, social policy, consultancy and training courses that focus on improving LGBTQ+ inclusion will also benefit greatly from this book.

This book investigates the birth and early evolution of the international aid regime in the 1940s and 1950s, considering how America established a postwar economic order in which aid was balanced against the establishment of the IMF as an instrument of economic discipline.Through the combination of the carrot of global aid and the monetarist stick of the IMF, the US was able to successfully draw most of the newly decolonising countries of the global south of the world into the global capitalist system, ultimately sowing the seeds for neoliberalism and the Washington consensus. The book tells this story by assessing key moments in the evolution of the global aid regime, from the Bretton Woods Agreement, to the Marshall Plan and the first American economic assistance programs to Western Europe and Japan, through to the evolution of the IMF's policies in the late 1940s and 1950s and the creation of the first global bilateral development aid program and the expansion of multilateral assistance programs in the 1950s. Through these events, the book demonstrates that the evolution of international aid and the IMF as an instrument of economic discipline are fundamentally entwined, and we can't understand either story without the other. The in-depth analysis in this book will be of interest to historians and researchers of international relations, political economy, and global development, but it also has much to teach us about today's global order.

For over a decade Luke Fletcher has been a firm fan favourite at Trent Bridge. This 6'6" gentle giant never gives less than 100 per cent for Nottinghamshire, but a laugh and a joke are never far from his lips. Within the space of a week in 2017 he went from the highs of winning a Lord's cup final to suffering a serious injury. As with most events in his life, the incidents provided scope for his infectious humour, much of it self-deprecating. An uncanny ability to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and his on-off relationship with the strength and conditioning gurus has often landed him in hot water, providing ammunition for witty comebacks. But although a clever quip is never far away, the broad-beamed paceman has earned the respect of everyone in the game. He has played against - and got the better of - virtually every opponent he has faced and has a career record to be proud of. In Tales from the Front Line, 'Fletch' serves up laughs aplenty as he takes us on an anecdotal journey through our summer game.
