John Alfred Brashear

A poor uneducated mill worker in his youth, whose driving passion was the study of astronomy, John Brashear lived to be designated "first citizen of Pennsylvania" for his scientific and philanthropic accomplishments, honored not only in his native Pittsburgh but by scientists all over the world.
