Sadhek Khan was born in London in 1978. He finished his studies at the University of the Arts, London and started working in the welfare-to-work industry as an employment coach. He developed his experience in the voluntary, private and public sectors, and he remains active in the public health sector. As a Muslim, and having lived and worked in the East End, Khan has first-hand experience of the struggles faced by second-generation Muslims from immigrant backgrounds living in deprived areas. This coupled with questions surrounding Muslim identities in Western societies prompted Khan to write The Emirates of Britain, satirically exploring the right-wing politics of a perceived Muslim takeover.
