It is still a common assumption that labour-management relations are about trade unions, collective bargaining, and strikes. While these issues remain crucial, today's conceptual terrain is much broader. New Frontiers and Trajectories in Labour-Management Relations goes beyond a focus on the outcomes of work and employment, to elaborate how different actors' roles at multiple levels of analysis shape labour-management relationships and workplace behaviours. It explores the political economy of work and labour-management relationships by considering the role of different labour market institutions in the governance of work and employment, as well as how these institutions shape and are shaped by power and conflict in work and labour-management relationships. Approaching the subject as a broad multidisciplinary social science field, the volume features contributions from leading international experts on work, employment, and labour-management relations, encompassing thinking from economics, sociology, and law, to history, political science, and industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology. With this diversity of perspectives, the volume provides an eclectic framing of how work and employment relationships are formed and coordinated across time, space, and place.

Are unions still relevant in digitized workplaces? Could basic income be the solution to both poverty and technology-driven job loss? What are the benefits and drawbacks of a guaranteed jobs policy? Are multinational firms better regulators of global work than States? What are the tensions between immigration and employment relations? What are the regional impacts of national living wage movements? Do employment laws work for non-standard work? What would emancipation in transnational labor law look like? Are European social partnerships dead? Which decades-old policy ideas should be revived to help us navigate the changing nature of work and economies? This edited research volume explores classic approaches to the regulation of employment that solidified in the period following the world wars. Unions and collective bargaining, labor and employment laws, and social partnerships are, and will continue to be, important institutions in many countries. However, the volume also reimagines old and new ideas for the governance of work and employment in global, digital, post-industrial, and rapidly changing economies and societies. Contributing authors consist of leading expert scholars and practitioners from around the world.

This collection challenges misconceptions that rural Canada is a bastion of intolerance. While examining the extent and nature of contemporary cultural and religious discrimination in rural Canadian communities, the editors and contributors explore the many efforts by rural citizens, community groups, and municipalities to counter intolerance, build inclusive communities, and become better neighbours. Throughout, scholars and community leaders focus on building new understandings, language, and ways of thinking about diversity and inclusion that will resonate with rural people. Scholars of rural studies will find this book useful as will rural community leaders and community organizers.Contributors: Clark Banack, Ray Bollman, Claudine Bonner, Corina Borri-Anadon, Jen Budney, Michael Corbett, Roger Epp, Murray Fulton, Stacey Haugen, Phil Henderson, Sivane Hirsch, Michelle Lam, Coleen Lynch, Aasa Marshall, Darcy Overland, Trista Pewapisconias, Dionne Pohler, Samuel Reimer, Jennifer Tinkham, Kyle White
