Normal, having sustained the loss of his surrogate grandfather, has trouble dealing with it. The chance to take a little bite of retirement, as he calls it, presents itself, and he travels to New England.
To his surprise, people recognize him as his new identity. He learns that his new identitys parents where not married, and he only has the mothers DNA. They tell him he has been murdered in New York City. When he finishes his business with the natives of Bangor, Maine, and leaves the reservation, he passes through the Eastern states and ends up in Boston, where he defends Marios cousin, who is suspected of murder. After clearing her of the charges, he tours the area in his quest for knowledge of the history of the nation of which he is proud.
By the time he gets home, he finds much work and intrigue has found him. It seems he is not the only one who has secrets. He becomes a surrogate brother and uncle all in one swoop. He thinks to himself, I may need another bite of retirement.

The history of migration is deeply entangled with colonialism. To this day, colonial logics continue to shape the dynamics of migration as well as the responses of states to those arriving at their borders. And yet migration studies has been surprisingly slow to engage with colonial histories in making sense of migratory phenomena today.
This book starts from the premise that colonial histories should be central to migration studies and explores what it would mean to really take that seriously. To engage with this task, Lucy Mayblin and Joe Turner argue that scholars need not forge new theories but must learn from and be inspired by the wealth of literature that already exists across the world. Providing a range of inspiring and challenging perspectives on migration, the authors’ aim is to demonstrate what paying attention to colonialism, through using the tools offered by postcolonial, decolonial and related scholarship, can offer those studying international migration today.
Offering a vital intervention in the field, this important book asks scholars and students of migration to explore the histories and continuities of colonialism in order to better understand the present.1 840 kr

Michael Williams and Lisa Coleman star in this six-part family sitcom set in a village pubLandlord Jack and his daughter Nicola used to be close – when she was seven, and all she talked about was ponies. Now she’s 26 and works in the City, and they’ve drifted apart. So when she comes back for a Christmas visit and announces she wants to stay and help manage the pub, he’s less than thrilled. Barmaid Mrs Drummond is unimpressed too – she’s never liked Nicola – but regular customer Andy is delighted she’s back home.Adapting to being a co-landlord is difficult for Jack, who’s run things single-handed since Nicola’s mum died. He’s a creature of habit, an old dog who won’t be taught new tricks. Having his grown-up daughter around all the time is a challenge, especially when she breaks his favourite bowl and keeps insisting he talk about his feelings. But neither Jack nor Nicola wants to call time on their relationship – can they accept each other’s foibles and find a way to reconnect?Created by veteran Coronation Street writer Joe Turner, this warm-hearted comedy drama stars Michael Williams (A Fine Romance) as Jack and Lisa Coleman (The Story of Tracy Beaker) as Nicola, with Simon Greenall (I’m Alan Partridge) as Andy and Cherry Morris (Mapp and Lucia) as Mrs Drummond.Production creditsWritten by Joe TurnerProduced by Liz AnsteeCastJack – Michael WilliamsNicola – Lisa ColemanMrs Drummond – Cherry MorrisAndy – Simon GreenallBrian/Steve/Derek/Joe/Various – Toby LongworthAndy’s Mum/The Inspector – Sally GraceArthur – Finetime FontayneRalph – John DuttineKirstie – Debra StephensonFirst broadcast on BBC Radio 4, 7 January-11 February 1999© 2024 BBC Studios Distribution Ltd.
