Universality belongs to the very being of the catholic Church. This claim of the Gospel is rooted in the ministry of Jesus, witnessed to by the canonical Gospels and the other books of the New Testament, all of which present the universal openness of salvation as a fulfillment of the Scriptures of Israel. In this book, after addressing the universality of salvation in the writings of the Old Covenant, we examine the differentiated and concordant witness of the synoptic Gospels, John and Paul, as well as the Letter to the Hebrews and the Apocalypse. In this way, we intend to show how this apostolic witness responds to the will of the Lord Jesus, while highlighting its harmony with Torah, Prophets and Writings.Light for the Nations, by reviewing the main biblical passages on the universal dimension of salvation, aims to show how the fact that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has a claim to universality does not diminish, but rather enhances, the importance of the people of the first Covenant: Israel is called to be an active mediator of salvation. The canonical perspective is based on a differentiated exegetical study of each testimony. The scope is broad, since this theme of biblical theology is also relevant for Christology and soteriology, for anthropology and for ecclesiology. The main contribution lies in showing how the various biblical testimonies, in their diversity (which is fully taken into account), offer at the same time a concurring testimony on this fundamental question of Christian theology, forming a true symphony within its polyphony.

Este volumen colectivo, fruto del Seminario "Evangelios y Antiguo Testamento" de la Asociación Bíblica Española, analiza en profundidad las diez llamadas "citas de cumplimiento" del evangelio de Mateo. Con rigor exegético y atención a la narrativa, los estudios aquí reunidos muestran cómo estas fórmulas, exclusivas del primer evangelio, iluminan el sentido global del texto y revelan la teología del cumplimiento que lo vertebra. A través de la lectura atenta de cada cita, el lector accede a la original articulación entre Escritura e identidad mesiánica de Jesús que propone Mateo, en diálogo constante con la tradición de Israel.Un estudio riguroso y accesible, dirigido a quienes desean comprender más profundamente el mensaje del primer evangelio.

En la escuela de la Palabra es el título de un proyecto de lectura de la Sagrada Escritura. Supone convertirse en discípulos y aceptar la fe (en la Palabra) como clave hermenéutica para interpretar los textos sagrados. Supone también leer la Escritura en la Iglesia, es decir, en la comunidad de los discípulos. Leer la Escritura en la escuela de la Palabra es asumir un método diverso del que se emplea en el laboratorio. Implica superar el criterio puramente científico -si es que existe tal cosa- que se quiere imponer a toda costa y con carácter de exclusividad. Pero la escuela supone también una instancia diversa de la que tiene lugar en el oratorio. Con ello nos situamos en el ámbito de lo que Romano Guardini llama la ciencia de la fe. Este es el lugar desde el que interpretan la Sagrada Escritura el conjunto de textos recogidos en este volumen.

El diálogo del Resucitado con los discípulos de Emaús lleva a su culmen el recurso al Antiguo Testamento como clave de comprensión del misterio y del ministerio de Jesús; el libro de los Hechos, particularmente en sus discursos, desarrolla el verdadero "programa" que suponen estas palabras del Resucitado. La obra lucana encuentra pues en el diálogo constante con la Escritura de Israel una referencia imprescindible. Las contribuciones que presentamos en este volumen, fruto maduro de un trabajo en común en el marco del seminario permanente "Evangelios y Antiguo Testamento" dentro de la Asociación Bíblica Española, manifiestan la relevancia de este hecho para la exégesis de los escritos lucanos y muestran además la fecundidad de esta aproximación.

Desde siempre se ha considerado que el discurso de Jesús en la montaña es capaz de iluminar e inspirar el comportamiento humano en los ámbitos más variados y, a la vez, que revela aspectos fundamentales del Dios Padrede Jesucristo. Este libro es una expresión más de la atracción que esta enseñanza, plasmada en los capítulos 5-7 del evangelio de Mateo, sigue ejerciendo hoy.
