Michael Hughes, a twenty-nine-year-old clock watcher, is almost out of time; Michael believes, "I am running the last leg of a twenty-six-mile marathon and if I don't make it to the finish line with an employed husband, a secure home and some ready- made fertilized eggs, my uterus is going to explode." The daughter of two dysfunctional parents, Michael is in constant battle with her sexuality and incessant appetite for "tight butts and big soft lips" which leads her in a relentless pursuit of "the one."
