      Richard I. Zraick, PhD, CCC-SLP, F-ASHA, CHSE, is Professorin the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University ofCentral Florida (UCF). He is a Fellow of the American Speech, Language, andHearing Association. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology and hismaster's degree in speech and hearing science from the University of Arizona,and his doctor of philosophy degree in speech and hearing science from ArizonaState University. Prior to joining the faculty at UCF, he was on the faculty atthe University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for 17 years. Throughout hiscareer, he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of medicalspeech-language pathology. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts inscientific journals and has given over 100 presentations at scientific andprofessional conferences. His research focuses on three primary areas ofinquiry: evaluation and treatment of voice disorders, healthcare simulation,and health communication. He is a "clinician at heart" and has worked as aspeech-language pathologist throughout his academic career, bringing decades ofclinical experience into the classroom, clinic teaching environments, andresearch laboratory.Shelley L. Von Berg, PhD, CCC-SLP, is Professor Emerita atCalifornia State University, Chico, where she researched, taught and practicedin the areas of neurogenic disorders, voice and voice disorders, augmentativeand alternative communication, and clinical methods. She earned her master ofscience and doctorate degrees from the School of Medicine at the University ofNevada, Reno. She presented at dozens of workshops on the assessment andintervention of neurogenic speech-language disorders nationally and abroad. VonBerg has been published in the ASHA Leader series; Unmasking VoiceDisorders; Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools; Current Opinionin Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery; Cleft Palate-CraniofacialJournal; and AAC Journal.
