Die satirisch-burleske Versdichtung von Francisco de Quevedo wird gemeinhin als rein ludisches, grotesk-komisches Stilgebaren aufgefasst und als Erscheinungsform des Karnevalsdiskurses à la Bachtin zu deuten versucht. Doch wie steht es mit dem Teil von Quevedos satirisch-burlesker Versdichtung, der einer solchen Lesart widerstrebt und sich vor allem durch ausgeprägte Aggressivität und Obszönität charakterisiert? Diesem Aspekt in Quevedos Werk geht Frank Savelsberg in seiner Untersuchung nach und legt dabei den Schwerpunkt auf die persönlichen Invektiven Quevedos gegen seinen eine Generation älteren Dichterkollegen Luis de Góngora. Im Gebrauch expliziter verbaler Obszönität macht der Verfasser in den eingehend analysierten Gedichten neben der Unterstreichung der satirischen Stoßrichtung eine stilkorrigierende Tendenz aus, die im Sinne der klassischen Rhetorik dahin ziele, die Dinge bei ihrem eigentümlichen Namen zu nennen. Quevedo verfolge somit in seinen Invektiven das Ziel, das proliferierende Stilgebaren des Kulteranismus auf die klassischen Maximen der Rhetorik herunter zu brechen. Er wähle dabei einen schändlichen Sprachgebrauch, um einen noch schändlicheren in die Schranken zu weisen, alles um der Perspicuitas willen.

This manual provides a detailed presentation of the various Romance languages as they appear in texts written by Jews, mostly using the Hebrew alphabet. It gives a comprehensive overview of the Jews and the Romance languages in the Middle Ages (part I), as well as after the expulsions (part II). These sections are dedicated to Judaeo-Romance texts and linguistic traditions mainly from Italy, northern and southern France (French and Occitan), and the Iberian Peninsula (Catalan, Spanish, Portuguese). The Judaeo-Spanish varieties of the 20th and 21st centuries are discussed in a separate section (part III), due to the fact that Judaeo-Spanish can be considered an independent language. This section includes detailed descriptions of its phonetics/phonology, morphology, lexicon, and syntax.

This volume brings together contributions by specialists from a variety of disciplines discussing the epistemological history of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and the transmission of knowledge in the Crown of Aragon. They consider, among other things, the materiality of texts, the linguistic models employed, the persistence of ancient models of perceiving the world, up to the establishment of new ways of thinking and knowledge transfer.
