Vår tids största själ . Det var så Albert Camus beskrev Simone Weils (1909 1943) häpnadsväckande liv och gärning i samband med publiceringen av hennes första texter på franska. Weils filosofiskt banbrytande tänkande både provocerar och fascinerar. Sällan lämnas läsaren i fred och måste ständigt återvända till motstridiga uppfattningar, radikala samtidsanalyser eller en klarsynt, rentav profetisk människosyn. Få är de tänkare som Weil, som har lyckats hålla samman eget handlande med teori, politisk kamp med andligt engagemang, filosofisk intellektuell skärpa med ett liv präglat av Gudskärlek. Följande antologi bygger på ett antal föredrag som gavs vid Newmaninstitutet, i Uppsala, hösten 2022. I antologin avhandlas bland annat Weils syn på fattigdom, det onda och det sköna, glädje, tyngd och nåd, samt Rush Rhees läsning av Weil. Antologin omfattar ett axplock av de många ingångar som Weilstudier kan leda fram till, men utgör samtidigt ett unikt och viktigt bidrag till det svenska mottagandet av Weil idag.
