This book presents a global perspective on the topics of resilience and well-being as it relates to children and youths in different settings (such as schools, communities and families), underscoring the cardinal importance of culture, and designing resilience interventions in different contexts and countries around the world. The philosophy adopted by the editor is a multisystemic, cross-cultural and transdisciplinary approach in understanding the protective factors, and risk factors as well as the processes and mechanisms of resilience and well-being of all children in especially vulnerable populations. This book includes chapters from Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia, showcasing the empirical studies of eminent researchers and practitioners to promote the scholarship and practice of interventions focused on resilience - more specifically, research in countries such as Greece, Portugal, Latvia, US, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, India and Australia are presented. An interesting aspect of this book is the diverse approach in research methodology and theories about resilience and well-being. A significant concept of this book is its emphasis on a critical thinking mindset in processing all relevant literature on resilience and well-being, as well as in understanding which factors, mediating variables or mechanisms, may lead to successful resilience and well-being focused interventions with children and youth, as well with people who care about them (e.g. educators, parents). To conclude, this book offers a cutting-edge collection of scholarly writings focused on interventions in applied settings (e.g. schools, community centers families). A well-designed intervention is the bridge between theory and practice (praxis). In this book, new models (R2 model, BRiTE) and new prevention programs (e.g. RESCUR, Indian Resilience Intervention Program) are presented. With these new insights, the reader will be enriched in conceptualizing resilience and well-being from a global perspective.
