Railways in Modern India

Building the Railways of the Raj highlights the centrality of railways in the history of colonial and post-colonial India. Together the contributions represent some of the best writings on Indian railways, including Karl Marx, Mahatma Gandhi as well as later twentieth century scholars, which range over much of India's railway past.
