    Beskrivning

This pioneering volume explores the complex issue of contextuality from the perspectives of Digital Theology. The use of and access to digital technology is highly contextual. It differs between regions, generations, classes, religious denominations, and gender. Likewise, which topics theologians deem important are contingent on their cultural, social, economic, religious, ecclesial, geographic, and technological contexts. The scholars in this volume delve into these complexities. They critically and constructively explore the contextuality of Digital Theology itself. They examine how digital contexts interact with other geographical, social, and theological milieus. Furthermore, these trailblazing academics reflect theologically on the intertwinement of contexts with resources from, for example, postcolonial studies, Indigenous, queer, contextual, and liberation theologies. This book not only advances digital theology but also its interdisciplinary connections. As such, it is valuable reading for all readers wishing to stay on the cutting edge of theological discourse.

    Recensioner i media

What I find particularly convincing about this book is that it does not treat ‘the digital’ as a single, universal context. Its chapters show that digital theology is always situated: in particular histories and practices, within technological infrastructures, and amid unequal relations of power. The volume does not simply add further perspectives to the field. It asks digital theology to reconsider where it speaks from and whom it has not yet heard. I warmly recommend it.
