This book presents a comprehensive collection of works from the first academic years of the Architecture course at the ETH Zurich – including simple spatial interventions, functional analyses and conceptual studies on an urban-planning level. The training focuses not only on teaching fundamental aspects, but also on engaging with space, light, material, structure and scale – as well as discovering one’s own design approach.The compendium compiles projects that are exemplary of the creative potential and diversity of architectural stances at the starting point of the students’ training, as well as providing insight into the ETH teaching methods; it is not least an appeal for architectural teaching that regards thinking, perceiving and designing as an inextricable unity.Text in German.
