Sean Scully - Walls of Aran

Sean Scully was born in Dublin in 1945. He grew up in London andworks in New York and Barcelona. He has exhibited widely in Europeand the United States: including exhibitions at the KunstammlungNordeim Westfalen in Dusseldoerf, Germany, (2001); the MetropolitanMuseum of Art, New York (2000); the Milwaukee Art Museum, DenverArt Museum, and Albright-Knox Gallery (1998–99); Galeria ArteModerna,Villa delle Rose in Bologna, and Galerie National de Jeu dePaumme in Paris (1996). His work may be found in museum collectionsworldwide, such as the Guggenheim Museum in New York;The ArtInstitute of Chicago; Corcoran Gallery in Washington D.C.; Centro deArte Reina Sofia in Madrid, Spain;Tate Gallery in London, England;TheIrish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin, Ireland; and Nagoya City ArtMuseum, Japan. Colm Tóibín is an Irish novelist, short story writer, playwright, poet, journalist and critic. Tóibín is currently Irene and Sidney B. Silverman Professor of the Humanities at Columbia University.
