"Lizzy is a fantastic character, full of passion and wonderfully unafraid to stand up for herself and her beliefs" BookTrust "Linda Newbery brings the suffragette movement to life through the eyes of one vividly drawn young woman" LoveReading4Kids "Linda Newbery has done a great job of condensing a big issue into a small story" Historical Association "I like the fact that it is certainly current, but at no times did it feel like being rushed out for any centenary of the Suffragette movement. It could almost be the coming-of-age-tale for any young woman" The Bookbag
When Linda Newbery was a teenager she secretly wrote her own stories and hid them in a wardrobe so they wouldnt be found. Writing was put on hold for a few years when Linda became a teacher, but at the age of 30 she set herself the challenge of finishing a book and getting it published. She now writes full-time and has produced books for all ages. She has won the Costa Childrens Book Prize and has twice been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal, as well as for the Guardian Childrens Fiction Prize.
