It does not have the strengths of Formell Svenska.

I bought the book because I really liked Formell Svenska, another book by the same author. Formell Svenska helps the learner to practice frequent vocabulary in various contexts with sufficient repetition, for most introduced items. On the other hand, Vardagliga Svenska 2 introduces too many phrases with little repetition, not allowing the learner to practice them enough. Presenting phrases including the same word all in the same place is also not so helpful because in our real life we don't run into the phrases that way, and it makes me feel confused with all looking similar phrases with completely different meanings. To become able to use second language idiomatic expressions in speech requires several years of learning, and the book can guide the reader to see which expressions are mainly for comprehension (i.e. to understand others) and which ones s/he can easily learn to use in speech. I appreciate the author trying to apply second language learning theories to creating actual learning material, and hope the book will be improved in the next edition.
