    Boken är baserad på noggrann research om ekonomin i Tyskland under mellankrigstiden och under wwii. Den ger en mycket tydlig bild av den förda ekonomiska politiken både inrikes och utrikes. En "måsteläsning" för historienörden som vill förstå de politiska skeendena under perioden.

    Det mesta som skrivs om det nazistiska Tyskland är föråldrat, förenklat och ofta ett omtugg av gamla böcker.
    Adam Toozes bok däremot är en originell och förstklassig prestation. Framför allt är det en historia om det tredje rikets strategiska vanföreställningar och dess ekonomi. Alltför ofta beskrivs andra världskriget enbart ur ett militärt perspektiv, utan den ekonomiska bakgrunden. Läs den här boken och du förstår sammanhang du tidigare bara haft en dunkel aning om. En av de viktigaste böcker som skrivits om Hitlertyskland.

Adam Tooze is Barton M. Biggs Professor of History and Director of International Security Studies at Yale University. He taught for many years at the University of Cambridge. The Wages of Destruction: The Making and Breaking of the Nazi Economy was universally acclaimed as one of the most important books written on the Third Reich. It was shortlisted for the Duff Cooper Prize and won both the Longman-History Today Book of the Year Prize and the Wolfson Prize for History.
