    Beskrivning

Horned gods have influenced the development of many magical traditions. This book explores the deep spiritual and historical roots of these gods, and shares rituals and activities designed to help you get closer to them. From ancient Greece to the Rennaissance to the contemporary age of Witchcraft and ritual magick, horned deities have been honored as gods of nature, sex, fertility, passion, sacrifice, death, and rebirth. The Horned God of the Witches reveals the origins and features of their most common guises Pan, Cernunnos, Herne, Elen of the Ways, the Green Man, and even the Christian devil. Whether you are interested in the Wiccan Horned God a composite of several deities or in the general topic, you will discover rituals for meeting the powerful deity, adding a spiritual charge to your lovemaking, and receiving the gifts of the Witch Father. Author Jason Mankey also includes an in-depth guided meditation for connecting with the Green Man, tips for setting up a devotional altar, directions for the kiss of the eight-pointed star, and much more. Designed to be useful for beginners as well as for those who already have an active devotional practice, this book shares fascinating perspectives and practices that will help you achieve your spiritual and magical goals.

    Recensioner i media

"The Horned God of the Witches is an amazing treasure trove of information. I could think of no better person to expand on this topic than acclaimed author Jason Mankey, who has had a prominent connection to this deity for most of his magickal life. In the book he explains this powerful figure as being representative of life, death and everything in between."—Lilith Dorsey, author of Water Magic"Taking on both the perspectives of academic history and modern Witchcraft practice, Mankey masterfully unfolds the stories of some of the Craft's most beloved masculine deities. From their mysterious origins to their place within the archetype of Horned God, readers will find ways to connect with a handful of deities including Cerennunous, Pan, and Herne. "—Kelden, author of The Crooked Path"The Horned God of the Witches is a tour de force of history, myth, academic research, and spiritual practice, all conveyed in Mankey's eminently approachable style. The resulting book is a delight to read, both an erudite treatise on modern Pagan theology and a passionate paean to its numinous divine subject, the Horned One."—Misha Magdalene, author of Outside the Charmed Circle"As a practitioner who works solely with one deity I was inspired by Jason to explore the potential to incorporate the Horned God into my own workings. The practices in this book are well thought out and elaborate while maintaining the ability for the perfect level of adaptability. This is a book I will revisit time and again in order to explore the magick and many aspects of The Horned God of the Witches."—Vincent Higginbotham, author of How Witchcraft Saved My Life"Jason can take a daunting amount of difficult information and transform it into something that's enlightening, educational, and thoroughly fascinating. As is so with his blogs, workshops, and other books, Jason is an effervescent and gifted teacher, storyteller, and scholar, and one hell of a writer too!"—Debra DeAngelo, author of The Elements of Horse Spirit"The Horned God of the Witches is a remarkably well researched, thoughtful, and most importantly personal look at the Horned God. In many ways this book felt like a portrait of the author and their practices, as their passion for the Horned God shrines through in every passage."—Mortellus, author of Do I Have To Wear Black?"Through reliable and fact-checked history, moving rituals, personal anecdotes, and well-informed speculation, Jason Mankey offers the ultimate exploration of this very nuanced and often misunderstood divine figure. Mankey's work is an essential read for anyone wishing to have an informed and well-rounded conversation every European Witch's darling, the Horned God."—Katrina Rasbold, author of Crossroads of Conjure"The Horned God of the Witches takes us on a tour through ancient times and up to the present, casting a fresh light upon many antlered and horned deities that have remained shrouded in mystery through the ages. Mankey offers simple yet meaningful rituals along the way while sharing valuable personal anecdotes from his own practice."—Kate Freuler, author of Of Blood and Bones"As a modern devotee of Cernunnos myself, I particularly appreciate the space carved in this book for the ongoing transformation of the Horned God’s agency in the modern world. For Mankey, Old Hornie’s legacy is an invitation to participate in the next chapter of the Horned God’s story, right here, right now. I, for one, am all aboard."—Meg Rosenbriar author of Healing Power of Witchcraft"Jason Mankey has given the craft a thorough, in-depth, and enjoyable analysis of the horned god of the witches!"— Christopher Orapello, coauthor of Besom, Stang & Sword
