Conquest of England (Barnes & Noble Digital Library)

This unfinished history was being written into the author’s dying days. Starting with the England of Ecgberht in the early 9th century and ending with the Norman Conquest in 1066, this engrossing book paints a vivid picture of this seminal period in English history. Noted historian John Richard Green asserts that instead of crushing England, the conquest did more than any event to build up the English people.
